New Children’s Ministry Associate Joins QSBC Staff

By Brian Hobbs | June 6, 2008

The newest addition to the Quail Springs Baptist Church staff is Laurie Fryklund, who will serve as the Children’s Ministry Associate.

In her new part-time role at QSBC, she will continue in the ministry position that Mark Jones had established over the past school year. She will help lead Children’s Worship, assist in 1st-5th grade Sunday School and other projects, as well as provide support duties for the Preschool/Children’s Ministry at QSBC.

“Laurie’s first Sunday with us will be June 8th, and she will hit the ground running with Dixie and the Children’s staff in full summer activity!” said Ray Griffin. “Be praying for Laurie and her husband Mark as they make the exciting transition to Quail.”

Fryklund comes to Quail Springs from a sister church in the area, where she served nearly ten years in a similar capacity. Prior to that, she worked in the broadcasting industry in Arkansas.

She received a degree in commercial art and a minor in secondary art education from Ouachita Baptist University in Arkadelphia, Arkansas. Fryklund said children are her lifelong passion, having dedicated her walk with God and talents to serving in that capacity.

“My grandmother led me to accept Jesus as my Savior as a young girl,” she said. “I was fortunate to grow up in a Christian home and want to help others have that same blessing. In 1986, I felt God’s call into full time Christian service.”

Regarding the QSBC Children’s Ministry, Fryklund said: “There’s really nothing more satisfying in life to me than leading children to know the Lord. It’s not a hard thing, it’s very natural. It’s just something I really enjoy.”

She said she is looking forward to working with the Quail Springs ministers “week by week, complementing the already excellent work done by Miss Dixie, hopefully even expanding on their already thriving relationships.”

Fryklund and her husband, Mark, have been married for over 27 years. He is a photojournalist with KOCO-TV. They have two children, Aaron and Elizabeth, who are both in college.

“With the Lord’s help, I expect great days ahead,” she added.
