Women’s, Men’s Ministries Find Ways to Connect

By Brian Hobbs | May 1, 2008

For many, Saturdays are just a good day to catch up on chores and errands. On Saturday May 3, though, the men and women of Quail Springs Baptist will each have a special opportunity to forge new friendships and fellowship with one another.

QSBC Men’s Ministry is holding its annual golf scramble at Coffee Creek Golf Course that day, while the Women’s Ministry will hold its annual spring banquet. The latter event, a brunch at 10:00 a.m. in Fellowship Hall, is the punctuation mark on what was a busy year for the R.U.T.H. (Relationships United Through Him) Ministry.

“In late April, a group of ladies from QSBC will travel to Wellington, Kansas, to bless the women of Hillside Baptist Church,” said Robin Toole, coordinator for the R.U.T.H. ministry. “We were blessed to have a memorable ladies retreat in the winter, and meaningful prayer and mission study through the Women on Mission, as well as powerful Bible studies.”

While the R.U.T.H. Ministry will not hold events during the summer months, plans are underway for another remarkable year. “With our talented leaders, we expect only to expand the ages and stages of women to whom we minister, such as college students,” added Toole. “We also plan to hold as many or more mission and outreach activities next year as we did in the previous.”

The men of QSBC likewise stayed active in their pursuit to walk with God this year. A highlight of the men’s ministry was the successful annual Men’s Dinner, which was attended by more than 300 men who heard a personal testimony from J.C. Watts.

“J.C. challenged our men to be leaders, to go the extra mile with Christ,” said Ray Griffin, QSBC Minister of Education. “The men of Quail are stretching themselves through important programs, like Navigator’s [Bible study], regular prayer meetings, as well as fellowshipping through sports and outdoor activities.”

Among the men of the church, Griffin has noticed an even greater interest in the Men’s ministry since the banquet, which raises hope for next year and beyond. “I am noticing an interest from our men that must be of the Lord,” he said. “My prayer is that God will raise up leaders to take this ministry to a new level, and I am grateful for each one who already participates.”
