In her new part-time role at QSBC, she will continue in the ministry position that Mark Jones had established over the past school year. She will help lead Children’s Worship, assist in 1st-5th grade Sunday School and other projects, as well as provide support duties for the Preschool/Children’s Ministry at QSBC.

“Laurie’s first Sunday with us will be June 8th, and she will hit the ground running with Dixie and the Children’s staff in full summer activity!” said Ray Griffin. “Be praying for Laurie and her husband Mark as they make the exciting transition to Quail.”

Fryklund comes to Quail Springs from a sister church in the area, where she served nearly ten years in a similar capacity. Prior to that, she worked in the broadcasting industry in Arkansas.

She received a degree in commercial art and a minor in secondary art education from Ouachita Baptist University in Arkadelphia, Arkansas. Fryklund said children are her lifelong passion, having dedicated her walk with God and talents to serving in that capacity.

“My grandmother led me to accept Jesus as my Savior as a young girl,” she said. “I was fortunate to grow up in a Christian home and want to help others have that same blessing. In 1986, I felt God’s call into full time Christian service.”

Regarding the QSBC Children’s Ministry, Fryklund said: “There’s really nothing more satisfying in life to me than leading children to know the Lord. It’s not a hard thing, it’s very natural. It’s just something I really enjoy.”

She said she is looking forward to working with the Quail Springs ministers “week by week, complementing the already excellent work done by Miss Dixie, hopefully even expanding on their already thriving relationships.”

Fryklund and her husband, Mark, have been married for over 27 years. He is a photojournalist with KOCO-TV. They have two children, Aaron and Elizabeth, who are both in college.

“With the Lord’s help, I expect great days ahead,” she added.

Today, that number of classes has tripled and is bursting forth with people.

The Single Adults Ministry at QSBC is rapidly growing, and offers classes tailored to every age and stage. Sharon Wallace helps lead, “Together with Christ,” a class for ages 50 and up.

“We have a unique blend of Godly people,” said Wallace. “Our class includes those who are parents, grandparents, working, retired, and more.”

Wallace said a special emphasis of their class is Christlike-service. “Whether it be volunteering at the Baptist Mission Center or helping raise funds for a school in Tanzania, Africa, it is our desire to pool our time and talents toward serving God.”

QSBC member Chris Doyle, meanwhile, is introducing a new Sunday school class. “Real Life” is a connection group focusing on single adults in their 40s.

“My wife Karen and I are excited about beginning this class,” Doyle said. “We named it ‘Real Life’ based on John 10:10 which has Jesus speaking in The Message, ‘I came so they can have real and eternal life, more and better life than they ever dreamed of.’ What we intend to do when we meet together is apply what Jesus means about providing real life to real life experiences.”

Both Sunday School periods at QSBC feature three single adult classes each. Along with “Together in Christ” and “Real Life,” the “Above and Beyond” class, led by Clint Cobb and James Hastings for singles aged 20s and 30s, begin at 9:30 a.m.

The 11 o’clock hour has the GAP class (Graduates and Professionals), led by Kate Downing and Jason Stephenson, for singles in their 20s; “In The Light,” led by Vella Fogerty, Stephanie Leak and Chad Pecisnosky for singles in their 30s; and “Truth Seekers” led by Randy and his wife Amy, for singles who are 40s and above.

“In addition to our Bible study classes, we have special programs for single moms and dads, as well as our Divorce Care,” said Davis. “We have opportunities for worship, Bible study, fellowships, recreation activities, retreats and much more.”

On Saturday May 3, though, the men and women of Quail Springs Baptist will each have a special opportunity to forge new friendships and fellowship with one another.

QSBC Men’s Ministry is holding its annual golf scramble at Coffee Creek Golf Course that day, while the Women’s Ministry will hold its annual spring banquet. The latter event, a brunch at 10:00 a.m. in Fellowship Hall, is the punctuation mark on what was a busy year for the R.U.T.H. (Relationships United Through Him) Ministry.

“In late April, a group of ladies from QSBC will travel to Wellington, Kansas, to bless the women of Hillside Baptist Church,” said Robin Toole, coordinator for the R.U.T.H. ministry. “We were blessed to have a memorable ladies retreat in the winter, and meaningful prayer and mission study through the Women on Mission, as well as powerful Bible studies.”

While the R.U.T.H. Ministry will not hold events during the summer months, plans are underway for another remarkable year. “With our talented leaders, we expect only to expand the ages and stages of women to whom we minister, such as college students,” added Toole. “We also plan to hold as many or more mission and outreach activities next year as we did in the previous.”

The men of QSBC likewise stayed active in their pursuit to walk with God this year. A highlight of the men’s ministry was the successful annual Men’s Dinner, which was attended by more than 300 men who heard a personal testimony from J.C. Watts.

“J.C. challenged our men to be leaders, to go the extra mile with Christ,” said Ray Griffin, QSBC Minister of Education. “The men of Quail are stretching themselves through important programs, like Navigator’s [Bible study], regular prayer meetings, as well as fellowshipping through sports and outdoor activities.”

Among the men of the church, Griffin has noticed an even greater interest in the Men’s ministry since the banquet, which raises hope for next year and beyond. “I am noticing an interest from our men that must be of the Lord,” he said. “My prayer is that God will raise up leaders to take this ministry to a new level, and I am grateful for each one who already participates.”

For more information on the May 3 events or the Men’s and Women’s Ministries at QSBC, contact the church office at 755-9240 or visit qsbc.org.

In those five years, it is remarkable to consider where the Lord has taken the congregation.<u2:p></u2:p>

<u2:p>Since 2003, QSBC has seen its membership roles nearly double. “We believe church growth is a sign of church health,” said Dilbeck. The growing QSBC congregation has enthusiastically supported many renovations and additions proposed by the Pastor and other church leaders.<u2:p></u2:p></u2:p>

<u2:p>The QSBC facilities were expanded by nearly fifty percent under the Pastor’s leadership, as the congregation unanimously took up the “Work of Heart: Building for Future Generations” capital campaign launched in 2005.<u2:p></u2:p></u2:p>

<u2:p>Dr. Dilbeck, a two-time graduate of Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary with a degree from OBU, was also instrumental in establishing the position of QSBC Minister of Education. “From this key role that Ray Griffin fulfills like no other, we have been able to expand into new, much needed ministry areas for today,” said Dilbeck, referring to the QSBC’s Singles Ministry and ministry to Middle School students.<u2:p></u2:p></u2:p>

<u2:p>A family man, Brother Hance’s much-beloved wife Julie has enjoyed raising their three teen-aged sons at QSBC and serving alongside members. “It is hard to believe that five years has come and gone, but in another way, it seems like we have always called Quail Springs Baptist home,” she<u2:p></u2:p> said.<u2:p></u2:p></u2:p>

<u2:p>When asked to reflect upon one of his sermon series that was particularly rewarding, Dilbeck pointed to one of his first as QSBC’s pastor. “Simply called, ‘Look what God is doing!’ this series set the tone for these five years and beyond. I still have CD’s of that series distributed in new members packets because it is important we all recognize that what good is happening is due solely to God, not others or me.”<u2:p></u2:p></u2:p>

<u2:p>While proud of the new programs, ministerial positions and buildings, Dilbeck is most rewarded by the unity he sees in the congregation.<u2:p></u2:p> “Ever since Julie, the boys and I made Quail Springs Baptist our home, we have sensed a warmth in this congregation,” said the Pastor.<u2:p></u2:p></u2:p> “Not every church has been blessed to enjoy such a common purpose. We have much for which to be thankful.”<u2:p></u2:p>

Looking to the future, Hance Dilbeck sees bright days ahead for Quail Springs Baptist. “Whether it’s the establishment of our intercessory prayer ministry or the growing evangelism opportunities I see around us, I believe the days ahead will make us marvel at what God can do.”

QSBC has mailed nearly 10,000 invitations to apartments and houses in the area. Hundreds more were hand-delivered,
each of which detailed the ministries and opportunities provided by the 40,000 square feet of new space.

“Through a $5 million capital campaign, our congregation is giving sacrificially in order to make room for more
people in our community,” said Pastor Hance Dilbeck.

On the grand-opening Sunday, QSBC will offer its standard three morning worship services – 8:15 a.m., 9:30a.m. & 11
a.m. During the services, QSBC will highlight the progress made through the capital campaign, as well as thank each of
the individuals and groups who contributed to the building campaign.

At the conclusion of the worship services, a special reception for guests will be held in the Fellowship Hall, where QSBC
ministry tables will be set up on display. An optional guided tour of the church will be made available to show visitors
just how the church was expanded to include:

• a brand-new youth building to accommodate
hundreds of students;
• more children’s classroom space and
state-of-the-art security features for its
growing pre-school and school-aged ministry;
and
• an expanded Fitness and Recreation
Center that offers a jogging track, game
room, basketball court, a weight room
and more—all for only $20 per person
membership fee each year.

“Our desire is to bring glory to God by meeting people’s needs, and these expanded ministries are designed to do just
that,” added Dilbeck.

On March 30, QSBC members will also hear a report about the financing of the project, including what has been
given to date and what is needed to complete the project.

“We pray this grand-opening event will be a unique time to connect with God and our neighbors,” said the Pastor. “Our
members can use this event as an opportunity to invite others to church.”

In the first part of 2007, QSBC Senior Pastor Dr. Hance Dilbeck formed a group of church members who were interested in expanding the church’s emphasis on prayer.

The group included Paula Corley, David Marks, Von Nix, Gydel Porter, Brent Salgat, and Melanie Schantz.

“I asked this team of praying people to begin to dream about a more organized and comprehensive prayer ministry for QSBC,” Dilbeck said. “Their initial focus is on beginning the Upper Room Prayer Ministry with the ultimate goal of a 24-hour prayer ministry.”

The new ministry launch will also coincide with the church’s year-long theme on prayer.
“2008 will be the year of prayer for QSBC, and establishing the Upper Room Prayer Ministry serves as a cornerstone of that theme,” he said. “Beginning early in 2008, everyone will have an opportunity to express interest in participating in the upper room prayer ministry.”

The mission of the ministry is to “glorify God, undergrid the members and ministries of His church in prayer, and lead believers to a deeper, more intimate walk with God.”

As part of the “A Work of Heart” construction project, there will be a dedicated prayer room located in the north hallway, where the pastor’s office was originally located.

The Upper Room prayer room will be a sanctified place, specially prepared and set aside for the sacred purpose of pleading with God for the needs of our church, our community, our nation, and our world,” prayer team member Paula Corley said.

Gydel Porter will serve as the coordinator of the Upper Room Prayer Ministry, according to Dilbeck. As coordinator she will lead in recruiting, training and organizing participants for the prayer ministry.

In Luke 22, we learn Jesus went out of His way to set aside the Upper Room to observe the Passover and to pray with His disciples,” said Porter. “In the QSBC Upper Room Prayer Ministry, we will have the opportunity to close the door to distractions and open our hearts to the Lord — pouring ourselves out in prayer.”

David Marks echoes Porter’s comments saying, “Prayer is one of the easiest, but most important, avenues of developing a deeper, more powerful walk with God. The Upper Room Prayer Ministry is a way to facilitate a consistent time and place to spend time communicating with our Heavenly Father.”
