FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
What buildings and additions are included in Phase One of the Master Plan?
The building project will expand our facilities for pre-school and elementary age children. A new youth building will provide desperately needed space for our expanding youth programs. Phase One will also include necessary offices and workspace for our ministers and staff. All Phase One projects will add more than 36,000 square feet to our current facility.
How many parking spaces will be added in Phase One?
We currently have 629 parking spaces, and next to zero open on an average Sunday. To provide room to grow, we will add
approximately 200 new parking spaces.
How will the children’s center improve our ministries?
The Church will be expanded to include more space and increased security for our ever-expanding pre-school and school-aged ministry.
How will the youth building be used?
This area will accommodate hundreds of youth who will be equipped and edified not only to survive in this world, but to
live triumphantly. This dedicated youth building will provide space for the total QSBC youth ministry including:
• Sunday School classrooms for 300 students;
• Two large group worship spaces for Middle School and High School Wednesday services; and
• Outside entrances, snack bar and bathroom facilities for special event use.
The Current youth space will be renovated for use by the adult education ministries.
Why do we need more office space?
A growing congregation requires a growing staff. Our commitment to this long-term growth requires equipping the QSBC staff with
the proper space to function efficiently on a daily basis.
Why did construction begin before the capital stewardship campaign?
The Church voted to begin work in April of 2006 in response to a pressing need for youth space and parking.
When will the project be completed?
Projected completion of the youth building is early 2007, with the remaining Phase One improvements to be completed by early 2008.
What is the total budget of Phase One construction?
The cost of Phase One construction is not to exceed $5 million. The Baptist Foundation of Oklahoma is extending a loan to finance the project.
What about our existing debt?
Debt from previous projects has been significantly reduced and will be serviced through our general operating budget.
What will be expected of me?
What we are asking of everyone in the congregation is:
A. To be in prayer. Person by person, family by family, we must all do business with God during these days. Let us look what God is
doing among us, and pray together that He will continue His good work in the life of QSBC.
B. To be informed. We want to let everyone know what is going on and why we are doing it. We want to open every line of communication
and provide answers to the questions our people have. Thus it is important for all of us to listen and read carefully each piece of
information that is provided.
C. To be involved. For our campaign to be successful, we will need everyone to help. Be ready to say “yes” when called upon.
We want everyone to attend the special events of the campaign. Especially important are the information meetings, prayer
meetings, and Celebration Sunday.
Will all church members be asked to participate?
Yes. New members and long-time members alike will be asked to commit to the project.
How will the necessary funds be raised?
The funds will be raised through a three-year capital stewardship campaign set to begin in the fall of 2006.
How will my financial participation affect my tithe?
The tithe is the ongoing stewardship responsibility of every believer. The tithes of God’s people go into the storehouse to fund missions, ministries and maintenance of our church. Gifts to the capital campaign are over and above the tithe we give. Thus your gifts are not in lieu of a tithe but in addition to and will be used to fund our Phase One projects.
How and when do I get to make my financial commitment?
Commitments will be made at the Celebration Event on November 5, 2006, and will be made either by giving weekly, monthly, or annually over a three-year period.
May we give additional non-cash gifts?
You certainly may. Many choose to supplement their financial commitment with an in-kind gift, such as stocks, bonds, real estate, vehicles, etc. Please indicate this on the commitment card and someone from the church office will contact you.
Can I revise my financial commitment?
Yes, you may either increase or decrease your commitment at any time the Lord leads.
Will my contribution records be made public?
No. Absolutely not.
