Good Day!

Looking forward to a great meeting Wednesday night 27th, 6:15 in the Cafe. We’ll zero in on some important things that are before us like Pumpkin Patch this Sunday. Also, Jerry Ross begins ministry at QSBC next week, so we’ll want to talk about his schedule of arrival. Be praying for the Ross family during this time of transition.

Thank you for your continued interest and involvement with My316! Continue to pray that the Lord will build us up, unify us, and give us peace as we share His good news in NW OKC!

I am so thankful to serve with you all!

It is hard to believe that we have come to the concluding week of our My316 Evangelism emphasis. While this is the official wrap, please know that tools like this are really a reminder, if not a launching point. Talk frankly with your class about what you have learned as a group, and what you know will need to change for your class because of elements/practices of My316. As you prepare for this final week’s lesson, please consider the following:

1. Pray. Anything we do on our own will fail without the Lord. He draws people by His Spirit. He convicts of sin. He empowers us to share. Ask. Ask Him to do great things for His glory. But, please don’t let your group be lulled into a “let’s pray and watch God work” remember it is “let’s pray and watch God work through us.” In other words we pray, and we GO!

2. Use the online lesson (found here). The theme of this lesson is to combine our faithful sharing with opportunities to share and show acts of kindness and service. You know the trending word right now, Missional; this really is that zone: faithful sharing with faithful and generous action. Being the head heart and hands of Christ. This week, we’ve had the opportunity to spend some time with our prospective Minister of Education, and I have heard him say something that is a simple reminder, we are here to “win” people to Christ. In 1 Corinthians 9:19 Paul says, “Though I am free and belong to no man, I make myself a slave to everyone, to win as many as possible.” Remind your group to be servants, true servants, with a great and gracious Lord.

3. In the series, we have worked to narrow down our focus from a broad “save the world” to praying and sharing with particular people. Spend considerable time focusing prayer, even silent prayer, on the people your group is focused on. Then, make this week’s solid connection on doing acts of grace for these individuals. Try spending some time brainstorming what those acts of grace could be. Help your group discover simple ways they can be salt and light.

Thank you for your work with My316! Thank you for your faithful service to your Sunday School class. Please let me know if there is anything you need as we approach this final week.

For God so Loved the World,
Ray

Hello Sunday School Leaders,

Please remember the critical nature of the leader meeting Wednesday, September 29th, 6:15 in the Café, as we will spend our time with our prospective Minister of Education. Be ready to meet him, hear from him, and ask some questions about his heart for the church and ministry.

Also, remember these additional important available times to meet and greet this family:

Saturday morning, 9:00 to 11:00 am, come and go brunch in the Fellowship Hall.
Sunday morning, testimony in all Worship Services.
Sunday afternoon, 4:00 to 5:00, come and go reception in the Café.

My 316 Week 3 October 3rd

By Ray Griffin · Comments (0)

The preparation for Week 3 is already here. Thank you for your investment in this emphasis. Week three is a very important week, so thank you for considering the following as you prepare:

1. Pray. I hope you are catching a theme here, but nothing will work without prayer. Our heart, passion, zeal won’t get it done. It is only by the power of the living God that great and mighty things happen. Ask Him for specifics for your Sunday School class, not just “bless us.” Ask Him to use your class, you and me, to see people come to faith in Jesus.

2. Use the Week 3 online lesson resources (located here). You’ll notice that for week 3 you will be emphasizing the power of prayer in sharing the Gospel with specific individuals. That is key. We are not praying a broad “save our community” prayer, but a directive toward praying for individuals you have placed in MY life. There is also an admonishment in the lesson to be ever so careful that we do pray for “our” needs, but that we focus the most on praying for the lost. During this lesson you will also have the opportunity to have your group members share their 3 minute testimony from week two. You will also have the opportunity to help your class members know a “sinner’s prayer” that they can use as they share their faith with someone. Remember that we can help you print the lesson worksheets if you need help.

3. One particular resource that will be helpful for you for this week will be the My316 tract. The tract is very simple with the verse John 3:16, and a sinner’s prayer printed on it. 2 things you could do with this: One, use it in the part of the lesson focusing on the sinner’s prayer, this will get this in everyone’s hands. Two, have everyone take three to use (we can get more), but in particular, carry at lease one in your pocket as a reminder. From Sunday to Sunday, our lives are busy. What a great reminder that I need to be praying for and sharing Christ than to have the tract in my pocket. We have these up front at the receptionist’s desk. Come by and pick them up anytime. We will also have them on the Sunday School records cart.

God bless you as you prepare for Week 3 and our specific emphasis on praying for particular people. Please contact me any time if I can be of assistance to you. I am here to serve you!

For God so Loved the World,
Ray

My316 Week 2 Sept 26th

By Ray Griffin · Comments (0)

I am praying for you all as we launch the first week this Sunday the 19th. As you prepare for week 2 on September 26th, let me suggest the following:

1. Pray-as stated last week, continue to pray daily about this emphasis as you lead your Sunday School group. Pray that each person will have a fresh encounter with their own faith journey and the impact of salvation on their lives, but also a renewed and refreshed zeal to share the Good News of Jesus Christ!

2. In the lesson for week 2 (download here), you will be leading your group to zero in on the facts of their story with Jesus Christ. You may be familiar with the 3 minute testimony, life before, conversion, and after new faith in Christ. The lesson steps you through this; this is a great lesson. Here is the biggest thing I want you to be prepared for. Perhaps someone in your class is lost. This lesson focuses in on personally knowing and experiencing the facts of salvation. Use this lesson as an opportunity to highlight, “Hey, for some of you today, you may realize that you know facts about Christ, but you do not personally know Christ, there has not been a time when you have asked Jesus to be the Lord of your life and to forgive you of your sin…” What a great opportunity to be able to lead folks through a prayer of salvation, and be able to say, “We want to help you write your testimony that begins, today!” Please contact me any time if you would like help in how to lead your class through a time of decision, or how to even open the door to talk with someone after class about making this decision.

3. Please make use of the handout pages (pages at end of lesson 2). You’ll notice in the lesson guide there are a couple of testimony forms you can use and even sample testimonies. Plus, there are pages highlighting the transition from My316 story to sharing the Gospel from John 3:16 that you may want to copy and hand out. Again, let us know in the office if we can be of any assistance in producing items from this lesson that will help you lead this session.

4. Please come by the office and pick up as many My316 tracts as you like. You will focus on these in week 3, but the tract could also help this week, especially in light of the prayer of salvation.

Thank you for your heart for leading this special series with our church family. Contact me any time, 850-1351!

For God so loved the world,
Ray
