Preparation for My316 final week 4, October 10th

It is hard to believe that we have come to the concluding week of our My316 Evangelism emphasis. While this is the official wrap, please know that tools like this are really a reminder, if not a launching point. Talk frankly with your class about what you have learned as a group, and what you know will need to change for your class because of elements/practices of My316. As you prepare for this final week’s lesson, please consider the following:

1. Pray. Anything we do on our own will fail without the Lord. He draws people by His Spirit. He convicts of sin. He empowers us to share. Ask. Ask Him to do great things for His glory. But, please don’t let your group be lulled into a “let’s pray and watch God work” remember it is “let’s pray and watch God work through us.” In other words we pray, and we GO!

2. Use the online lesson (found here). The theme of this lesson is to combine our faithful sharing with opportunities to share and show acts of kindness and service. You know the trending word right now, Missional; this really is that zone: faithful sharing with faithful and generous action. Being the head heart and hands of Christ. This week, we’ve had the opportunity to spend some time with our prospective Minister of Education, and I have heard him say something that is a simple reminder, we are here to “win” people to Christ. In 1 Corinthians 9:19 Paul says, “Though I am free and belong to no man, I make myself a slave to everyone, to win as many as possible.” Remind your group to be servants, true servants, with a great and gracious Lord.

3. In the series, we have worked to narrow down our focus from a broad “save the world” to praying and sharing with particular people. Spend considerable time focusing prayer, even silent prayer, on the people your group is focused on. Then, make this week’s solid connection on doing acts of grace for these individuals. Try spending some time brainstorming what those acts of grace could be. Help your group discover simple ways they can be salt and light.

Thank you for your work with My316! Thank you for your faithful service to your Sunday School class. Please let me know if there is anything you need as we approach this final week.

For God so Loved the World,
Ray
