Mission Ideas

Posted by: Ray Griffin | Comments (0)

Hey Leaders!

I am thrilled with the discussions many of you are having about the mission that you will embark on March 29th-May 17th in your Sunday School groups. As you think and pray about opportunities for service during those weeks remember to go with a connection or passion of your own group. At the same time, I know that it could help to have some “seed” ideas, if you will. Here are some that might get the juices flowing for your group’s ideas:

*Collect baby clothing to be taken to the Hope Pregnancy center.
*Find a service project at the Pregnancy center, cleaning, volunteering.
*Serve at one of the homeless shelters downtown.
*Letters to military. Letters to military connected QSBC.
*Adopt a Fire Station or Police Station for prayer, cards, desserts.
*Send notes of encouragement to our Mayor, leaders in the state.
*Pick a park to clean up.
*Pick a school to do a service project. Pray for the principal.
*Prayerwalk at QSBC. Prayerwalk anywhere (Bricktown) but set a time to do it together.
*Serve a homebound member.
*Connect with a nursing home.
*Connect with and pray for a prison chaplain.
*Contact the Baptist Homes for Children for any needs.
*Contact OBU for any needs they may have (mission trip), or any student who might be in need.
*Do a quick/basic car inspection for single moms.
*Work in the QSBC Food Pantry, or serve with the Benevolence Ministry.
*Contact a sister church in OKC that could be in need.
*Do a short mission trip to a sister church in South Central Kansas. Do a project, or lead in worship.
*Pass out fresh water bottles at a local park.
*Contact Falls Creek for a project/prayerwalk.

Whatever you do, go with the Gospel. Be ready to share the Good News. I am praying for you as you serve Him!

Hey Leaders,

I hope you thoroughly enjoyed the leadership experience we had February 25th as we prepared for Power Up Your World. Thank you for sharing some of your reflections with me. Please carry this experience with you as you move forward in helping your class be passionate about this emphasis.

You will be receiving in the mail your Sunday School lessons for March 29th and April 5th. Plus, you will also be receiving in the letter the handouts that you will be using with those lessons. We will have these resources copied and available for you at our next Leader Meeting which will be the 25th at 6:15. The Power Up Journals will also be available to you at the leader meeting for your department/class.

I am excited about what the next weeks hold for you and your class at QSBC. I am praying for you as you lead out in this emphasis! Please let me know of anything you need!

Serving Him,
Ray

Does Your Neighbor Know?

Posted by: Ray Griffin | Comments (0)

Wow, what a day yesterday with Chris Plekenpol and the report from our students and their Gravity Weekend. I am thankful for the testimony of our kids (and adults) lives as they grew in the Lord and in service this past weekend. Be ready for our launch of Power Up Your World March 29th, which will help us focus on our mission in Sunday School.

If you enjoyed Chris Plekenpol, check out his testimony online at www.iamsecond.com.

Our Leadership Meeting will be the last Wednsday night of this month, February 25th, 6:15, Cafe.

I am so thankful to you and your ministry to the church family of Quail, and to the community of OKC!

Leaders,

I am so excited about our next Sunday School Leader meeting coming up on Wednesday the 28th. This will be unlike any meeting we have had so far.

It will actually be an experience. I want to ask you to begin now praying about this meeting as we continue to focus on “Does Your Neighbor Know.”

Please invite your department leadership team to be here to walk through this special time together.

Bonus: February is “Focus on Your Family Month” so Sunday Night Services will be about your marriage relationships, single family, and godly parenting. Also, you know that Fireproof the movie is also being shown at the Student Center on the 13th and 20th, to give a boost to marriage relationships.

I am so thankful to serve with you!

Mission Minded Sunday School

Posted by: Ray Griffin | Comments (0)

Hey Leaders! I hope you all are doing great today.

Here is a unique opportunity that came my way just today (Thursday) that I wanted to make available for you as a potential service opportunity. It is at our State Baptist Children’s Missions Camp:

Volunteers are needed to work at CrossTimbers Camp near McAlester.

All of these projects need to be completed in the next week in order for camp to be ready for the summer season.

Ceramic Tile

Laying ceramic tile in bathrooms of four cabins. Camp will provide tile and tile saw.

Bunk Beds

Assembly of 30 wooden bunk beds, using lag screws with hex heads. Team of two to five people. Bring ratchet and socket sets, electric screw drivers or air drivers.

Painting

Exterior painting of three cabins. Team of six to ten people. Paint can be rolled or sprayed if team can bring power sprayer.

To volunteer, contact camp manager Beau Waters at bwaters@bgco.org or call the Volunteer Missions office of the BGCO at 405/942-3000 ext. 4336.

Thanks Leaders for all you do every Sunday and all through the week in ministering to the people in your groups!

I am praying for you all, and I am so thankful for you!
Ray
